Ukulele Savants honoured
by German Ukuleleclub 17-05-2010
During a tree day Ukulele Hotspot in Winterswijk, an event on which more can
be read elsewhere in this paper, Professor Peter and Doctor Dick were given thanks for their
efforts. Enourmous surprise as an old aquintance, Hans Thüring presented them selfmade Small
Instruments: a mini cajon and a sopranino cigarbox ukulele.
The next day another spectacular moment as they received a Deed
from Mr Raimund "Uketeufel" Speer, on behalf of the Ukulelenclub.
Both the Doctor and the Professor were overwhelmed by emotions and could not speak for over an hour.
This was well planned as there was music to be listend to and not the blobbering of
two learned ukers.
Professor Peter and Doctor Dick: twenty years of partnership 17-04-2010
This spring Professor Peter and Doctor Dick celebrate 20 years of making music together.
They started as buskers in the shopping area of Harderwijk, playing their own songs.
The first moving images date from that era.
As the years passed and the weather got worse they specialised on playing Homeconcerts:
short and vehement shows for small audiences on private parties. A skill the Prof and Doc
still master and love to do. After celebrating 15 years of cooperation, Prof Peter and Doc Dick founded the Small Instrument Society,
of which they are now the proud managers.

World's Greatest Uke-fan visits SIS 24-02-2010
The Sweet Hollywaians toured in Europe and played in Amsterdam.
A great opportunity for Doctor Dick and Prof Peter to go and see those brilliant collegues.
Once inside the hall where the concert was held, they met an old friend from the
Ukulele scene, Jeanette. Wherever you see Ukes, you'll meet Jeanette. She made the beautifull
picture of the Sweet Hollywaians, that you see here.
The Prof and Doc where greatly surprised als Jeanette herself showed up in Harderwijk
the day after. She came all the way for the traditional Coffee Concert
Doctor Dick and Professor Peter give every year. After concert and coffee, she paid a short visit
to the Small Instrument Society, where a this picture was taken.
Hot new Action in SIS 22-01-2010
A brandnew movie has been published today.
Professor Peter and Doctor Dick can be seen in some Hot new Action. As they proved earlier in their
film "Krank" the Ukulele Savants play their part in barrier braking healthcare research.
The latest product shows in a realistic style, How To Get Clean Thoughts.
Visit the new Action Room if you want to be updated
on this State-of-the-Art new Treatment. The
new movie was presented to a selected company. No beer and crisps this time as
Prof Peter and Doc Dick had an appointment in Amsterdam with some
of their dear collegues The Sweet Hollywaians.
Doctor Dick's expertise recognised 15-11-2009
Recently Doctor Dick was called by a crew member of the famous dutch theater company
Het Groot Niet Te Vermijden.
The company needed information from the Dutch Ukulele Guru himself. And they got it ofcourse: first class
information, scientificly and significantly hardcore hot news about strings and plywood.
The result can be heard and seen in the new show Het Groot Niet te Vermijden is playing in
theaters all through the Lowlands. A secret source reveals though he only advised them where to buy
their Ukes and how to tune them. Another source reveals the secret source is a jalous Prof Peter, who was
not asked for advise. We fear the real truth on this wil never be revealed.
What do Ukulele Players Eat? 10-10-2009
In July we wrote about Rose Turtle Erdler, a uke player from Austrilia, who
asked uke players from around the globe to send her the recepe of their favorite dish.
>

Ofcourse Professor Peter and Doctor Dick were glad to oblige and even sent two recepes.
Rose put the recepes in a book that recently came out. Click the cover to see a larger
picture.
Information on how to get a copy of this unique culinary collectersitem can be found
on Rose's Myspace page
"Special D" Hulabox for Doctor Dick 23-08-2009
Only a couple of weeks ago, Doctor Dick recieved the handmade "Special D Hulabox" by
mail. A Hulabox is a ukulele made from a cigarbox. This specific instrument was made bij
Hans Thüring from Germany.
According to mr Thüring the hardest part of making this ukulele was to smoke all the cigars first.
Enormous clouds were seen, coming from mr Thürings house. The local firebrigade
was alarmed five times in two weeks, by worried neighbours.
Archive and new Action Room 21-08-2009
Since the rumours, stories, intrigue and real facts about Professor Peter and Doctor Dick have
increased, the Daily Ukulele staff thought it necessary to open up an
Archive to store older messages. So don't go there, it is only the old stuf
On the other hand, the actionroom has been thoroughly redecorated. From
now on this wil be the place to see Professor Peter and Doctor Dick in some hot action. It
also is the room where public performances will be announced
Cookin'and Ukin 11-07-2009
Big surprise in the Small Instrument Society, as Professor Peter and Doctor
Dick were invited by a dear colleague
Rose Turtle Ertler to send her a recepe of their favorite food. Rose is putting
together a book, about what is cookin'in ukers country.
As usual Prof Peter and Doc Dick took this request very serious. During a whole week
they did experiments on Cookin' and Ukin'.As soon as Rose has her book together
our dear readers will be informed.

Small Instruments in Oranjepark 11-07-2010
A warm and sunny sunday afternoon in the city of Apeldoorn.
A lovely setting in
the Oranjepark for an open air concert by Professor Peter and
Doctor Dick. Click the image to get an impression of the beautifully restaured bandstand
and the audience in the shade of the large trees.
Ukulele Hotspot Winterswijk
one big uke happening 17-05-2010
About 70 Ukulele enthousiasts gathered on the 14th, 15th and 16th of May
in Winterswijk for the annual Ukulele Hotspot. This means the number of participants
was twice the amount of last years. Three days of non-stop ukuleleplaying, during
spontanious sessions, open stage and ukulele concerts. Lots of videos were made and
here they can be
found. One of the main dishes is the formation of an occasional orchestra
"The Ukulele Hotspot Orchestra Winterswijk 2010"

This year 47 ukuleleplayers joined the Orchestra. Never before such a
large Ukulele Orchestra played in the Netherlands. The orchestra set another record as
the succeeded in modulating from one key to another in one song. At the same time ofcourse.
This video showes
the Orchestra performing their "tour de force".
Generous Donation of Small Instruments 10-03-2010
A glorious day as Mr Teun Minses, a declared fan of Prof Peter and
Doctor Dick, decided to donate a Small Instrument to the SIS. Is is a concertina and
her (yes it's girl) name is Stagi. You can see the generous benefactor on this picture.
On the very same day, Professor Peter got an old banjolele from his dear friend Frits.
This
instrument needs a little care, as it has not been played for a long time. A job for Doctor Dick,
who instantly took out his stethoscope, ready to do the first diagnostic examinations. Once the
banjolele has had some tender loving care and new strings, it shurely will find a cosy spot
in the Halls of the Small Instrument Society.
Leleland Vendor of Small Instruments 04-01-2010
Hot news reached our editorial room today. Leleland in Berlin, a small shop (how well planned)
>

filled to the brim with Small Instruments, opened its doors. (do click the pic)
Professor Peter and Doctor Dick did, as usual, some thorough research on behalf of the Small Instrument Society.
Mr Harald Truetsch, the proud owner of Leleland, was overwhelmed with joy, as he received a deed, proclaiming
the official acknowledgement of Leleland to be a Vendor of Small Instruments.
You can find Leleland on Gneisenaustrasse 52A. Do hop in for a strum if you are in Berlin!
Prof has a new room 17-12-2009
It took some time for Professor Peter to decide on designs and colours for
his working space.
After long deliberation he decided to keep the old curtains. But he put the table in another spot!
As he is a hard worker the Prof hates it to be disturbed, so please be quiet on entering.
Again he managed to find some interesting places on the web for all those looking for great old music.
New in the Hall of Names 03-12-2009
Last week some great ukulele players entered the Hall of Names (which
can be found on your left hand, immediately after entering the warm and welcoming residence of the Small
Instrument Society). This time the visitors were the sympathetic duo from Australia
Bosko and Honey and, also from Australia, the chief of the Ukulele Cuisine
Rose Turtle Ertler. Do go and visit them and enjoy their strumming!
Rebuilding and Redecoration in Small Instrument Society 02-09-2009
The sounds of heavy equipement, drills, hammering and the whisteling of carpenters have
filled the friendly halls of the Small Instrument Society lately. Doctor Dick
decided it was time for some redecoration. The result can be seen in his new room.
Obviously the doc is happy about it. In the meantime work is continuing on the instrument room
The room of Professor Peter has to be refurnished too. As he still does not know what the colour of the ceiling should be,
you will have to wait to see the result.
Sahara Videoclip is a lie 21-08-2009
After a five days journey on the back of Camels, so they told the press, Professor Peter and Doctor Dick
reached a spot in a deserted desert that seemed fit for their latest videoclip.
>

Our reporter discovered the disappointing truth about this videoclip while taking a hike
on a sundayafternoon. Coming out of the forest and into a
small sandy clearing he
saw the Prof and Doc playbacking their own CD. No camels were to be seen, only two rabbits holding their front paws
over their ears.
Prof and Doc starring in Ukulele add 11-07-2009
A contest has recently been launched in Germany, inviting uke players to make a promotional
video. This week the
>
entry of Prof Peter and Doctor Dick has been published on the
forum
of the German Ukulelenclub.
Small Festival Great Succes 23-05-2009
The First Dutch Ukulele Festival in Winterswijk exceded the expectations! "Great ambience,
great music and loads of Small Instruments" are the right words to describe the
essence of the event.
Inside reports of the Ukulele Hotspot, of which the Festival was one of the highlights,
say the whole weekend was very succesfull. German observers said this event was
historic in bringing the relations between Germany and the Netherlands on a higher level.
"It is about time", Doctor Dick said, "that our politicians follow the example: take up their Small Instruments
and do something big with it." Local press seemes to have missed this scoop. >
